Only engineered timber floors with a genuine timber surface layer (typically 2mm–6mm thick) can be sanded and refinished. This process can refresh the look or remove surface wear and scratches. Laminate, hybrid, and vinyl flooring options are not designed for sanding, damaged planks in these materials are best replaced individually.
Surface wear is normal over time. For minor scratches on engineered timber, repair kits (such as wax fillers or touch-up pens) are available from flooring retailers or hardware stores. For hybrid, vinyl, or laminate floors, individual plank replacement is usually the best solution. We recommend consulting a professional installer for best results.
Yes, all floating floor installations require a quality acoustic underlay. For laminate and timber, we recommend underlays with a built-in moisture barrier. Our Timberly Ultra Green and White underlays are ideal for residential use. Hybrid floors typically have underlay pre-attached but may still require a plastic film for certain subfloors to reduce friction or improve sound control.
Possibly, but it depends on the condition of your existing floor. The subfloor must be flat, dry, clean, and stable. Any squeaks, dips, or movement should be repaired beforehand. Skipping proper preparation can lead to long-term issues and void warranties.
Yes. All our ranges meet low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emission standards, achieving the E1 rating, considered safe by international health organisations. Our hybrid and vinyl products are free from harmful phthalates and respirable crystalline silica.
No. Our flooring products are pre-finished and ready to walk on immediately after installation (except when direct adhesive is used, in which case curing time may be needed). Always follow your installer’s guidance for best results.
We offer colour-matched accessories including trims, scotia, and stair nosings for most Timberly product ranges. Stair nosings are designed for closed stair systems. Custom solutions may be available for special requirements, just ask in store.

While there are no local manufacturing standards covering most flooring types, all Timberly products are certified for use in Australia. They are tested locally for fire and slip resistance and meet National Construction Code (NCC) requirements.
Absolutely. We recommend keeping at least one full carton or a few spare planks for future touch-ups or repairs, especially if your range is discontinued.
Not necessarily, but we strongly recommend checking the delivered product before installation. Confirm the colour, style, and trims match your order. Leave clear instructions regarding trim placements and contact details for your installer in case questions arise.

No. Floating floors need expansion gaps to allow for natural movement. Caulking or sealing these gaps will lead to performance issues like buckling or joint separation, and void your warranty. Use skirting, scotia, or trims to cover these gaps.
Heavy fixed structures like kitchen islands, pool tables, or aquariums should not be placed on floating floors, as they prevent natural expansion and contraction. If these items are necessary, consider a direct stick flooring option.
Use a soft broom, static mop, or vacuum for daily cleaning. Avoid steam mops or overly wet methods. For best results, use floor-specific cleaners like Bona or Loba, which are safe and effective for all Timberly flooring types. Refer to our Floor Care section for product-specific cleaning guides.
